Sri Yantra — the geometric form of the Divine Mother
Yoga Chikitsa · Individualized Therapy

Easeful. Peaceful.
Useful.

One-on-one yoga therapy with Darin Somma (Yogeshwar), IAYT Certified Yoga Therapist.

What yoga therapy is

The scope of yoga therapy is much broader than most people realize. Beyond musculo-skeletal complaints, it offers rejuvenative support for every organ of the body and every system of function within it — and it has been a real aid to those working with chronic conditions: chronic fatigue, hormonal imbalance, and the mental states of depression, anxiety, and obsessive compulsion. It can help medicines work more efficiently, and it can help the body come off of them.

Properly practiced, yoga is profound medicine. Ten or twenty minutes a day, in some cases, is enough.

The work is always individualized. It treats the whole person and seeks to create the balance from which the body and mind heal themselves.

What it addresses

A wide range of conditions.

Three broad categories, with overlap. If your concern isn't named here, write — yoga therapy often helps where conventional care has thinned its options.

Musculo-skeletal

  • Chronic back & neck pain
  • Postural patterns & alignment
  • Joint stiffness & mobility
  • Recovery from injury
  • Pre- and post-surgical support

Systemic & chronic

  • Chronic fatigue
  • Hormonal imbalance
  • Digestive function
  • Sleep & nervous-system regulation
  • Cardiovascular support
  • Coming off medication (with your doctor)

Mental & emotional

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Obsessive compulsion
  • Trauma recovery
  • Stress & burnout

Yoga therapy can help medicines work more efficiently — and, working alongside a medical doctor, it can support the body in coming off of medication when that is the goal.

The approach

Yoga Chikitsa — three principles.
